Health Benefits of Choosing E-cigs Over Smoking Tobacco
There are many health benefits to choosing E-cigs over tobacco-based products. Despite the fact that E-cigs do contain nicotine, they’re actually tobacco free. They utilize no open flame, create no ash, generate no smoke, and don’t fill your lungs with tar. There are a lot of reasons to take up vaping as an alternative to your cigarette habit, and here are some of them…
1… Using E-cigs is up to 95% less harmful than smoking analog tobacco cigarettes
This review, which was published by Public Health England, really drives home the fact that E-cigs have been found to be safer. So one benefit to choosing E-cigs over analog cigarettes is the fact that you’re literally using something that’s almost 100% less dangerous – and that’s a large number when it’s your safety that you’re talking about.
2… Cigarettes contain toxic particles that have come to be known as ‘tar’
Contrary to popular belief, this isn’t the same type of ‘tar’ that’s found on the road. It’s actually made from chemical particles that form a sticky, tacky, brownish-yellow residue when the cigarette is burned. This residue paralyzes the cilia in the lungs, and contributes to many different health conditions – including chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and lung cancer.
E-cigs, however, don’t contain any ‘tar’… so by switching to electronic cigarettes, you can avoid this problem altogether.
3… Researchers have identified almost 7,000 chemical compounds in cigarette smoke
Of these many chemicals, 250 are said to be poisonous, and 70 are cancer-causing. E-cigs, however, have been shown to be much, much safer. They don’t contain any tobacco, and while they still emit some chemicals, the amounts of these chemicals are often so reduced that they’re not even close to dangerous levels.
The result is a much safer product with a vastly reduced potential for harm.
4… E-cigs can be used to wean yourself off of nicotine without such severe withdrawal symptoms
Because electronic cigarettes utilize E-liquids with very specific amounts of nicotine in them, it’s possible to use them to wean your way off of nicotine without experiencing such intense withdrawal symptoms. You can, for example, start with an 18mg E-liquid, and then work your way down to an E-liquid that contains 0mg of nicotine.
Obviously, you could try to wean yourself off of cigarettes by simply smoking fewer of them – but electronic cigarettes could allow you the freedom to vape as much as you want without feeling guilty about ‘lighting up’ every time you face a craving that you can’t control.
E-cigs aren’t necessarily completely and utterly safe. To be honest, nothing but clean, pure air is 100% safe to inhale into your lungs. But the important thing to remember is that E-cigs and E-liquid are much, much safer than traditional tobacco cigarettes. And with that being the case, it makes a lot of sense to at least consider the possibility of switching over if you’re currently a smoker looking to quit.
