Blu Pro Kit Review
The main highlight to this kit is the fact that it offers decent, simple vaping experience at an affordable price.
Blu Pro Kit Review
Blu is a pretty large E-cig company, and they’ve been around for quite some time. We recently reviewed their Go Disposable electronic cigarettes, but also managed to get our hands on a Blu Pro Kit – so naturally, we were excited to give it a try.
Right from the beginning, we had high hopes for this vape pen. Realistically, we’ve never had a problem with Blu’s products, and we were pretty sure that we were going to like this one. We were excited at the prospect of getting a rechargeable device from Blu, because we really liked their disposables – so much so that we hated having to throw them away!
So naturally, when we got a chance to review this product, we were pretty stoked about it.
Pros and Cons
Here are the basic pros and cons that we discovered over the course of our research…
- It’s reasonably priced and simple to use
- It seems well-constructed and well-designed
- We liked how the clearomizer looked
- The vapour production was surprisingly good for a device in this price range
- The clearomizer gave us some problems at first, which was a bit of a downside
- There was a discrepancy about the battery power. On the instructions, it said that the battery was rated at 1450mAh, but the battery itself said that it was rated at 1100mAh.
- The threads seemed a little bit ‘grainy’ the first time we attached the clearomizer to the battery
What’s in the starter kit?
The starter kit comes with 1 battery, 1 clearomizer tank, 1 Micro USB charging lead, 1 10ml bottle of E-liquid, and an instruction booklet. You pretty much get everything you need to start vaping right out of the box, which is nice.[print_responsive_slider_plus_lightbox id=”35″]
This kit seems like it would be an excellent choice for beginners. It might leave very experienced and/or advanced vapers wanting a bit more, as it doesn’t give you any variable voltage or wattage settings – but really, for a standard vape pen kit, it does a good job.
The charging lead was small and simple. On one end was a standard USB connector, and on the other was the micro USB connector.
The clearomizer is quite nice. It has small blue windows in it so that you can see how much E-liquid you have left, and a shiny black mouthpiece. Since we weren’t very keen on tobacco flavoured E-liquids, we opted to try this device with the blueberry flavour sent through by Blu – so that’s what we filled the device with to get started.
Filling this tank was a bit different from filling standard tanks. Instead of unscrewing the base and filling it through the bottom, you simply screw off the top – which unveils the tank and the wicks. This device is a bit difficult to fill, actually, due to how the device is designed. The opening is a bit narrow, but it’s easy to avoid getting the e-liquid in the center because the center opening sticks up quite a bit.
The battery is what we looked at next. It was an 1,100mAh battery – which is honestly pretty good for a kit like this. Strangely, the instructions said that the rating on this battery was 1450mAh – though the battery itself had 1100mAh printed directly on it. So, it would seem that there was a bit of a misprint somewhere – but we decided to trust the battery itself over the instructions.
It takes about 3 hours to charge this battery, which isn’t too bad. If you tend to be a moderate vaper, it’ll last you quite a while on a charge. You should get a full day’s worth of vaping on it, which is nice. There are some LEDs on the battery that will let you know when it needs to be charged. These LEDs will also let you know when it’s being activated and when it’s on.
The battery itself has a rubberized coating, feels solid, and is surprisingly light-weight – which is good.
Attention! We had a bit of an issue when we connected the clearomizer to the battery. It gave us a flashing indicator and didn’t work at first. We disconnected the clearomizer and connected a different one, which worked just fine – then disconnected it and re-connected the Blu Pro clearomizer once again, and it worked just fine.
Strangely, the owner’s manual didn’t say anything about a flashing indicator – which we were a bit disappointed by. We sort of had to figure it out on our own – which didn’t take too long, but it was a bit of a pain.
- Provides a long, smooth vape
- Top filling for minimal spills
- USB rechargeable
- Comes with a 10ml bottle of E-liquid and a micro USB charger
- 1100mAh battery
What did we think of this Kit?
The vapour production was pretty good, as was the flavour. We actually really liked the Blueberry liquid offered by Blu – and were impressed with the responsiveness of the pen in-general. The LEDs are also quite attractive while you’re vaping on it, which makes it look really good when the lights are dim.
Overall, it’s a good, basic vapourizer. It’s easy to use, and while there were a few problems with it (it wasn’t super easy to fill and we had a problem with the clearomizer at first), it’s really not a bad device. If you’re an experienced vaper, you might not like having a limited number of options (there were no variable settings at all). But if you’re new to vaping and just want something that’s easy and hassle-free to use, this vape pen could surely be on your radar!
Appearance and Feel
The box and packaging was very nice. It was well-printed, and contained plenty of vivid colors and information. You can actually find these kits in many stores and at most petrol stations that sell E-cigs – so odds are good that you’ve probably seen them around a time or two.
Nevertheless, we liked the packaging and thought that Blu did a good job on it.
The contents were laid out nicely in a black tray. There really isn’t much to report on this point. It seemed to be pretty straightforward packaging. Underneath the black tray was an instruction booklet and the Micro USB charging lead.
The device itself was quite lightweight and felt good in the hands. The firing button was nice and firm – so no loose parts or shaky connections there. All in all, we rather liked it.
There are a few small air holes in the clearomizer to help provide better airflow overall, which we were glad to see.
This product seems to be made of a mixture of metal, plastic, and glass. We felt that it was pretty sturdy, though we did notice that the threads seemed a little bit grainy when we first screwed the clearomizer onto the battery.
- Ease of Use
This product is pretty easy to use. You simply fill the clearomizer, attach it to the battery, and start vaping. Charging is as simple as plugging the included charging lead into the device and letting it sit for about three hours.
The main highlight to this kit is the fact that it offers a quality, simple vaping experience at a super-affordable rate.
The main drawback to this vape pen was that the connection between the clearomizer and the battery seemed a bit glitchy – which we weren’t expecting.

Blu offers several different types of E-liquid on their website that you could purchase to use with this device – so if you end up purchasing the Blu Pro Kit, you might want to get a few extra bottles of E-liquid to try as well. If you have tried this kit, we’d love to hear your two cents.
