Should You Buy/Sell Used Vaping Gear? No ratings yet.

If you’ve ever upgraded your vaping gear, and ended up with older gear that still worked, but that didn’t see much use anymore, then you have probably thought about selling it. Likewise, if you have ever thought about getting into vaping, but didn’t want to spend quite as much to get started, then you’ve likely thought of buying used vaping gear instead.

There are several marketplaces online that offer used vaping gear, and there are quite a few forums where you can post your older gear and browse listings to see what other people have that they might want to sell. Granted, these types of opportunities can make you or save you extra cash, and can allow people to get into vaping at a very highly discounted price – but is it a good idea to buy and/or sell used vaping gear?

Is it dangerous? Are there health hazards? Is it a good idea in-general, or something to avoid?

There are really two basic questions that you need to ask yourself to get started with… and that is what we are going to talk about in this article.

The Basics

The truth is that buying and selling used vaping gear can, indeed, make you (or save you) some decent money. New vaping gear isn’t necessarily super expensive, but getting it at a discounted price could still certainly be an attractive opportunity.

Nevertheless, there are some safety guidelines that you should follow if you are thinking of buying any vaping gear second-hand.

Can It Be Cleaned?

Can this particular bit of vaping gear be cleaned? Does it have a removable drip tip that you can sterilize? Can the tank be broken down and washed in hot water and soap? Is there any way to get old E-liquid residue off of the many different internal parts?

Safety from germs and contamination could be a real danger in some rare cases… but much more common than that is the fact that a lot of people simply don’t want to feel like they are exposing themselves to someone else’s saliva! It’s kind of a gross idea, and nobody really wants that. So make sure that you only buy gear that can be adequately cleaned/sanitized before you use it.

Does It Work?

Another major concern for people who are thinking of buying vaping gear second-hand is whether or not the gear will actually work. When you buy new gear, you usually have some sort of a warranty that will at least cover you if what you are buying is dead on arrival – but with secondhand vaping gear, you could be buying something that doesn’t work from someone who won’t give you your money back!

Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot that you can do about this, besides talk to the seller in an attempt to figure out what type of a person they are. Do they seem responsible and trustworthy? Do they have a good reputation? Have other people left them bad feedback or complained about them in some way?

Do they seem to know what they’re talking about? Are they giving you specific details about how well the item works?

These are all things that you can look at to try to figure out if they are telling you the truth. Most people are honest when they are trying to sell something, and are not trying to screw you out of any money – but you can never be too careful.

As a general rule, buying online is pretty safe, as long as you use common sense and realize that you are always taking at least a bit of a risk. Obviously, buying new is much less risky – but it’s also more expensive.

Our Final Thoughts

Buying used vaping gear online is really not much different from buying anything used online. You need to be careful, exercise caution, and do your best to figure out if the seller is on the up and up. If they are, then you might end up saving some money.

If not? Then you might end up wasting it.
