Brief E-Cig Buyer Guide

Electronic cigarettes are becoming more and more popular, mostly because they offer smokers of all levels an alternative that won’t put them at risk for the many dangers associated with tobacco use. Electronic cigarettes, unlike their analog, tobacco-filled counterparts, do not produce any smoke or use any tobacco of any kind.

Rather than burning tobacco to create smoke, electronic cigarettes atomize a flavoured e-liquid to create a smokeless vapour. Most electronic cigarettes deliver about the same amount of nicotine as a regular cigarette, but create none of the harmful or toxic chemicals associated with tobacco use in the process.

Buying an E-cig for the first time can definitely be a daunting task. While their advantages are regularly touted and advertised by E-cig companies, there is surprisingly little information out on the market today that gives a first-time user any real insight as to what they should buy.

Should you buy a rechargeable or a disposable? Should you buy something cheap or expensive? Are they all the same, or are there big differences that you should know about? These are all important questions that you will likely ask yourself as you browse and contemplate all of your options, but don’t worry… in this buyers guide, you are going to get an in-depth, crash course on the subject of electronic cigarettes that will help tremendously in navigating the confusing, yet exciting E-cig jungle that exists out there in the marketplace today.

What Are The Different Types And What Do They Do?

There are many different basic types of E-cigs on the market, and before you buy anything it is important that you understand exactly what you are getting. Not all E-cigs are the same, and you could end up getting something that is not as well suited to your needs if you buy before at least figuring out what to expect from the different types.

Here is an overview on the different types of E-cigs, along with some information about who might find them the most useful.

Rechargeable Electronic Cigarettes

Rechargeable E-cigs are probably the most popular type of E-cig. They are regularly offered in basic starter kits, and are designed primarily for light to medium smokers.

Rechargeable E-cigs cost more than disposables, but they also last a lot longer and are one of the most economical choices on the market. Once you buy a rechargeable, all you really need to do to keep using it is to recharge it between uses and refill it with e-liquid when it runs out.

Disposable Electronic Cigarettes

Disposable E-cigs are common, inexpensive, and designed mostly for light smokers. Of course, they actually make a good choice for social smokers or first time users as well, mostly because they offer the most inexpensive option if you simply want to try an E-cig without committing to anything major. When you use it up, you simply throw it away and buy more… no recharging or refilling required.

E-Go Style Electronic Cigarettes

The E-go styles are designed for medium to heavy smokers, and are usually considered an upgrade for people who simply want more out of their experience than they got with the rechargeable type.

The E-go style gives users a larger battery, more cartridge/tank options, and more nicotine than a standard disposable or rechargeable E-cig, though they are also a bit more expensive.

Personal Vaporizers

This is a type of E-cig designed for heavy smokers, though they are also popular with advanced E-cig users and those with a love for technological gadgets.

This style offers even more power and options than the E-go style, and is generally popular with people who have used that style but found that it didn’t offer quite enough control over the vaping experience to satisfy them.

Personal Vaporizers require quite a bit of maintenance and can be confusing for first-time users, but they can also make the E-cig experience even better when used by someone who is experienced with them.

Electronic Cigar

The E-cigar is basically exactly what it sounds like… an electronic cigar. It operates pretty much like a rechargeable E-cig, except that instead of being shaped like a traditional cigarette, it is shaped like a cigar.

This type is, for obvious reasons, the number-one choice for smokers who prefer cigars… despite the fact that they create no smoke. Users will be amazed to realize, however, that the good ones taste almost exactly like the real thing!

Choosing Your First E-Cig

If you have never used an E-cig before, then you might be wondering where to start. That is a great question, but the answer is actually fairly simple. Most agree that, for first time users, either rechargeable E-cigs or disposable E-cigs are going to be the best choice.

If you would like the full experience and would like to see what it is like to use E-cigs on a regular basis for more than a day or two, then you might want to buy a rechargeable starter kit to start things off.

If you would rather go the less-expensive route to start off with, however, than a few disposable E-cigs will give you a taste of the experience without saddling you with a charger and starter kit right at the beginning. Disposable E-cigs can also give you the opportunity to try different brands and flavours. E-cigs come in a wide variety of flavours, and it can definitely be fun to try out some different options.

This website is full of information about E-cigs, so a little bit of browsing should give you all kinds of ideas for your first purchase. There are also some very helpful reviews on this site that can give you all kinds of information about different E-cig brands.

Buying your first E-Cig might seem daunting, but don’t be discouraged! Just take a look around and don’t be afraid to try new brands or flavours. It might take some experimentation, but before you know it you will be an experienced E-cig user and well on your way to enjoying a safer, healthier alternative to traditional tobacco cigarette products.

I wouldn’t say you have to start with disposable e-cig and then work your way up. There is plenty of starter kits on the market to choose from. Vapour 2 for example has a good one. The battery life is solid and the taste of the cartridges is I think one of the best I had. Buy chocolate, if you decide to give i a try, it tastes almost like the real thing.

Hi Noah, you’re absolutely right but it’s different times now, this was written when 90% of starter kits you get now were not even on shelves. We need to do some content polishing and thanks for stopping buy. 😉
