The Easiest Ways to Clean a Dirty Vape Tank

Published On December 27, 2017 | By Nicole | About E-Cigarettes Articles

There are a number of reasons why you should clean your vape tank at least once a week. Firstly it ensures that your device retains full performance for much longer. By cleaning out the remnants of old e-liquid from your tank will stop the old e-liquid from becoming thick and sticky. This means that the new liquid you put in will flow much better and offer a better vaping experience.

Another reason you will want to clean your tank is because the remnants of previous e-liquids will change the flavour of the current liquid you are using. If you like to change your flavours regularly you can end up with five different flavours mixing together to create an all new concoction. That can ruin your experience when you get a taste of mango when you have filled up with cookies and cream.

That doesn’t mean it has to be an incredibly difficult difficult task when you clean your tank though. In fact, it can be quite simple when you know the right way to go about it.

Rinsing With Water

The most simple way to clean out your tank is to rinse it with water. The first thing you need to do when rinsing your tank with water is to remove it from your device and take apart all of the relevant parts. Every single piece that you can possibly remove from the tank you should do it. Even the o rings. This will ensure that you are able to get right into all of the nooks and crannies to make sure your tank is as clean as possible.

Rinse vape tank in water

Once you have taken apart your tank you need to rinse each part individually under the cold tap. Don’t use the hot tap as the o rings can be damaged by an excess amount of heat. After you have rinsed the parts allow them to sit in a bowl of warm water for ten minutes. Then remove each part and rinse under the cold tap again.

After drying with a paper towel you are ready to put your vape back together and get back to vaping. It might seem like a lot of instructions, but it will take about fifteen minutes altogether, and that includes the ten minutes soaking time!

Propylene Glycol

If you have undertaken the standard rinsing method and still aren’t satisfied then you can use propylene glycol to give yourself a deeper clean. The steps are very similar to when you rinse with water. You still take apart all of the parts and rinse them under the tap first. After this you need to replace the bowl of warm water to a bowl of propylene glycol. After ten minutes you need to allow the parts to drip dry.

As the propylene glycol is thicker than water it is a lot harder to dry with a paper towel, so drip drying is the best way forward. After this you still need to undertake the final rinsing step and then you dry your parts with a paper towel. This way does take longer than the rinsing with just water method, but it does offer a much deeper clean. If you feel like old flavours are lingering or you are really struggling to remove dried liquid from your tank then this method will give you more chance of cleaning your tank to the required standard.

If you are still struggling to get your tank as clean as you would like then you can change the propylene glycol for ethanol. If you do make that choice then the final rinsing stage is even more important than usual.

Ultrasonic Cleaners

If those two methods still aren’t doing the business then the best bet for you to get your tanks as clean as possible is an ultrasonic cleaner. Ultrasonic cleaners can be used for a large number of different items, one of which is fortunately enough the tank for a vape. All you need to do is take apart your vape tank, just like you would for every other method of cleaning. Then you follow the instructions for your ultrasonic cleaner, then you wait for it to finish.

Depending on which ultrasonic cleaner you buy it might take a little bit longer than some of the other methods, but it requires the least amount of effort. It also gives the deepest clean to ensure that your vape lasts as long as possible, without the prospect of flavours mixing.

If all of these methods don’t work and you’re still struggling then it could be a case of you needing to change your coil. Once you have undertaken all of these you should get the most satisfying vape every time you fire up, not just the first time.

If you want to buy an ultrasonic cleaner then you will find many different types of them on Amazon.
