Electronic Cigarette Compatibility Guide

Buying electronic cigarettes has become easier than it’s ever been before—thanks mostly to the internet and the wealth of companies now offering electronic cigarette products. There are now more starter kits than can be counted, and so many options to choose from that making a choice about which brand you’re going to buy could be the biggest challenge facing you.

As it turns out, however, buying parts from different brands that will work together with one-another might be a new challenge that many E-cig users are now experiencing—and sometimes, this problem can be frustrating.

It’s often helpful to buy parts or components from different makers—though anyone attempting to do this right now will quickly realize that there aren’t many ‘industry standards’ that are followed with any real gusto.

Yes, there are trends that become more popular (such as 510 threading), but people are often left to wade through the problem on their own when it comes to the murky, foggy world of electronic cigarette compatibility.

In this article, we’re going to attempt to give you some basic information that will help you as you try to mix and match parts from different brands. Of course, there are a million different choices out there, and we can’t cover them all—but maybe this article will give you some insight that will at least get you started and moving in the right direction.

Compatibility—what does it mean?

Let’s say, for example, that you wanted to buy a battery from one company and use it with an atomizer that you already own. To figure out if this was possible, you’d need to know if the two components were ‘compatible’, and there are several ways to figure this out.

First of all, you could examine the threads to determine if they’ll literally be able to go together. We’ve actually published a pretty good article on this subject here (https://ecigsuk.org.uk/differences-between-e-cig-threads-adapters/). This article will give you some great information about threads and adapters, and should give you some decent insight into what to look for when buying different parts.

Next, there’s a really good E-cig wiki page that maintains an article on this very subject—and it’s accompanied by an extensive chart that contains a ton of fantastic information. You can find the chart here (http://e-cigarette-wiki.com/index.php?title=Brand_and_Model_Compatibility_Chart), and should be able to find a lot of valuable resources to help you as you mix and match pieces from different brands.

How to find out for sure if your E-cig components will work together before you purchase them

Figuring out if your E-cig components will work together after you already own them is much easier than trying to figure things out before the sale, since you can always simply try them out. But how do you know what to look for in parts that you haven’t bought yet?

To start with, you’re going to need to figure out which type of threads the device uses. This can usually be found in the specifications section when looking at the description of the device. If you can’t locate this information (sometimes it’s tough to find), then you should probably message the company and see if you can get answers.

Next, you’re going to want to compare what you find to either our article on compatibility or the wiki linked above. This should give you a pretty good idea of what other threads and/or brands will work with that component—which will put you on the right track to figuring out what you need to know.

While it can sometimes be frustrating that E-cig companies don’t all use the same threads, it might put your mind at east to know that there are really only six major different thread options in use right now. These are utilized by the majority of brands, and represent the vast majority of electronic cigarette components on the market at this present time.
