Phantom HD3 Vaporizer Review

The Phantom HD3 is a 3-way vape pen that’s produced and sold by Epuffer, which allows you to vape e-liquids, vapor juices, and herbal extracts.

These 3-way devices are becoming more and more popular, because they can be used for different things other than just E-liquid – which is pretty cool.

This isn’t the first time we’ve posted about the Phantom HD3 vaporizer on our review site – and we’ll admit that we were pretty excited to get to work on an in-depth review of the device.

P.S. we’ve reviewed a few more products from ePuffer so make sure you use our ”QUICK SEARCH” located in the footer to find our other ePuffer reviews.

Pros and Cons

  • Seems well-made
  • Produces an excellent flavor and a pretty good amount of vapor
  • Offers a lot of value for the money
  • Excellent kit for beginners or experienced vapers
  • Comes with an 1100mAh battery, which will last at least one full day, if not more

  • The charging cable is a bit short
  • Overall, the kit doesn’t offer much that’s ‘new’. It’s a pretty straightforward kit – albeit a very well-crafted one.

What’s in the starter kit?

The starter kit includes the Phantom HD3 Liquamiser (which has a tank size of 1.6ml), a replaceable atomizer heating element, an 1100mAh Lithium rechargeable battery, a Micro USB charging cable, an instruction manual, and bonus E-liquid (if you purchase it in the UK and buy the Phantom HD3 Vapouriser Black + Bonus kit).

The charging cable is a pretty standard USB to Micro USB cable. It wasn’t very long – but it seems well-made and capable of doing the job.

The battery seems nicely made. The finish is nice to the touch (it’s covered with a rubber-like coating), and the firing button is located near the top. The Micro USB charging port is located on the bottom, which isn’t quite as nice as models that have it on the side (so that you can stand it up while charging). But still, models like this don’t tend to leak very much – so it shouldn’t be much of an issue.

This E-cig comes with what ePuffer describes as a ‘liquamiser’ – which is basically an E-liquid tank and atomizer.

Instead of a clear glass ‘tank’, this part of the E-cig actually comes with a smaller window that you can see the E-liquid level through. As a 1.6ml tank, it’s a bit on the small side – but that shouldn’t be much of a problem for a device like this, since it’s not a sub-ohm device.

Changing the atomizer coil and filling up the device with E-liquid are both pretty easy on this vape pen. You simply unscrew the liquamiser from the battery, and then the base ring from the liquamiser. This will allow you to pull the atomizer out and expose the tank – which you then fill like a typical vape pen tank.

Changing the atomizer is as simple as unscrewing the old one and replacing it with the new model. It really couldn’t be any simpler.

Small air holes at the base of the atomizer ring help to provide better airflow – which is a nice touch.

Note: Make sure to let the device sit for a few minutes the first time you put E-liquid into it, as this will allow plenty of time for the wicks to soak up enough of it to keep you from experiencing ‘dry hits’.

Operation of the device is pretty simple. You simply click it five times to turn it on, and then hold the button to vape. Clicking it five more times will turn it off again.

  • 1100 Lithium rechargeable battery
  • Pass-through charging
  • Comes with a Micro-USB charging cable
  • 6ml tank size
  • Product dimensions: 14mm in diameter, 152mm in length
  • Weighs 45g
The threads are eGo, 510 compatible.

What we think of this Kit

This device offers a lot of value for the money – especially for beginners. When you combine the 1100mAh battery with a 1.6ml tank and a well-constructed liquamiser, you’re bound to come up with a device that impresses – and ePuffer has definitely done that.

We felt that this device would be perfect for newer vapers – but it could also make an awesome addition to an experienced vaper’s collection as well. It would be excellent as a portable device that you take with you, and with an 1100mAh battery, you won’t really need to worry about it dying half-way through the day.

The throat hit we got with the provided ePuffer E-liquid was very good – as was the flavor. The amount of vapor wasn’t ‘incredible’, but it was sufficient. Enough so that we had no complaints about it.

All in all, we were impressed. Two thumbs up to ePuffer for an amazing, easy-to-use vape pen that gives users a lot of value for their investment.

HD3 Vaporizer

Appearance and Feel

The packaging was pretty nice. The box was attractively designed, and had a lot of information printed on it regarding the product inside. It was well-varnished, seemed well-constructed, and was easy to open up.

Appearance and feel

The inside was pretty basic. All of the items that came in the kit were laid out in clear plastic – and the user manual was stored beside it. The user manual itself was pretty informative, and did a good job of describing the basic functionality of the device (including how to change the atomizer).

The battery felt pretty good in-hand. It was long enough that it felt comfortable – unlike the batteries of some smaller devices. The rubber-like grip also made it easy to hold onto – which was nice.

The liquamiser has the same coating on it as the battery – which gives the entire E-cig a uniform-type look to it. The clear drip tip/mouthpiece really helps to complete the look.

Overall, this vape pen looks really awesome. It’s on the small side – but not so small that it’s too small. It’s actually very nice to hold and look at.

  • Airflow

Small air holes at the base of the atomizer provide plenty of extra airflow – which is awesome.

  • Material

The materials seems to be a combination of plastic, metal, and the rubberized coating that covers the outside. All in all, it seems well-made and well-constructed.

  • Ease of Use

This device is certainly easy to use. The controls are simple, it doesn’t require you to change any settings, and refilling it is a cinch. Replacing the atomizer is also easy – so beginners should have no trouble picking up on how to use this device at all.

The biggest highlight to this product is probably the fact that it’s so easy to use.

It’s also an amazing entry-level device, and offers a lot of value for E-cig users who might be new to the habit or switching over from cigarettes.

One drawback of this kit was the length of the charging cable. It seems well made, and works very nicely – but the battery can pass-through charge, which allows you to vape while it’s plugged in. And yet, the charging cable is simply much too short to use for such a purpose.

You could probably make it work with some kind of extension cord – but it still would have been nice to see a cable that was at least three times the length of the cable that’s included.

Another possible downside was the fact that this product might not offer much in terms of ‘new features’. It’s really not so unlike many other similar devices on the market – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it is something to consider.

  1. Champ says:

Delivered it quickly and this was my second device that I have ordered from epuffer. Products are great, haven’t had a need to get in touch with their customer support so no complaints as yet. The only thing I would add, I’d like to see them do a lot more with their e-juice range, including some 50/50 PG/VG options. Their current e-liquid offer, although very nice is quite limited. Cheers, Champ!

  2. Fi says:

Just ordered this my first vape! Really hope to kick the nearly 20 years nasty habit. Wish me luck!

  3. Nicole says:

Nice to hear that Fi and good luck with the switch! If you ever have any questions do come back. :))

  4. Jamie says:

Mine arrived this morning I’ve charged the batteries(I bought a spare) put the liquid in I only had 4 or 5 puffs and now I can’t get anything out of it although it does light up when I press the button and that goes for both batteries, any idea what’s wrong?

  5. Nicole says:

Hi Jamie, sounds as a faulty device. I suggest you contact EPUFFER through their on-site contact page and request a replacement.
