Using an E-cig might seem difficult at first, and it can be especially confusing when you start to look at all of the different types of E-cigs on the market. Of course, actually using an E-cig is much less complicated than it looks. In fact, with a little bit of practice, you will likely find that using this electronic alternative to analog cigarettes is actually easier than rolling your own tobacco-filled version!
It must be taken into account, however, that while most brands operate similarly, that not all of them are exactly the same. For that reason, keep in mind that this is just a basic tutorial, and not intended to replace the user manual that you will get when you purchase your own E-cig. Always read the instructions, and never forget to double-check yourself, just to make sure that you are doing everything correctly!
There are actually 3 basic types of rechargeable electronic cigarettes. In this guide, you will find basic instructions for all of them.
This is the most common type of E-cig, and generally is the same size and shape as a regular tobacco cigarette. The first thing you need to do is to charge your battery. Once it is fully-charged, you can follow these basic instructions to prepare it for use.
First, you need to assemble the device by screwing the atomizer and the battery together. You then need to remove the protective cap that covers the cartridge and screw it into the atomizer. Once you have done this, (if you are using pre-filled cartridges) your E-cig will be ready for use.
Generally, the only thing left to do is to use the device, which usually means inhaling through the mouthpiece to activate the battery. This will, in turn, activate the atomizer, which will cause it to turn a small bit of the e-liquid into a vapour. This is what delivers the flavour and the small hit of nicotine.
Ego Style E-cigs
Ego style E-cigs are a bit larger and utilize a bigger battery than an E-cig mini. There are also some differences in the way that they are readied for use. Most Ego electronic cigarettes are comprised of three parts… the mouthpiece, the cartomizer, and the battery. The cartomizer on such devices is generally disposable, though it can be refilled with liquid and used several times before it will need to be replaced.
To assemble the Ego style E-cig, simply fill the cartomizer with the appropriate liquid smoke to the appropriate level. Once it is full, you can screw the cartomizer onto the battery and the mouthpiece to the cartomizer.
Once these steps are completed, it will be time to use the device. Basically all Ego devices require you to push a button to activate them, which is called manual operation. Use the manual operation method while inhaling to create and taste the vapour.
Advanced Personal Vaporizers, or APVs, or Mods
APVs are sort of similar to Ego style E-cigs, except that you use rechargeable batteries inside of them and can use different cartomizers/mouthpieces with them. They are also more expensive, but offer far more options and control over the experience than other types of E-cigs.
APVs are very popular because they usually allow you to adjust both the wattage and the voltage. When these are combined with coils that have different resistances, you get a truly customizable experience within which you can dictate how much vapour is released and how much nicotine is delivered per hit.
Like Ego-styled E-cigs, all APVs are manually operated. They can also be refilled like Egos can. It is important, however, to keep voltage and wattage in mind when changing cartomizers. If you put a cartomizer on your APV that does not have a coil that can handle your current set voltage, then you could blow the coil and ruin the cartomizer.
Of course, these instructions are very basic… but hopefully they will give you some insight as to how different types of E-cigs operate. You should always consult your instructions before using your E-cig, but the main point to remember is that E-cigs are not nearly as complicated as they might seem to be. Before you know it, you will be well on your way to being a seasoned vaper (if you choose to try E-cigs, that is!).
E-cigs are a great alternative to regular smoking. They are safer, less expensive, and deliver the same amount of nicotine in a very controlled environment. They also produce no negative or harmful vapours that could hurt or bother other people. The vapour released by E-cigs simply evaporates into the air.
If you are currently a smoker but would like to try an alternative to analog cigarettes, then E-cigs might be a great choice for you!
