Innokin Cool Fire 4 Review

Quick Intro

The Innokin CoolFire 4 is a top-selling box mod that can be used with either sub-ohm or standard coils.

It comes with variable wattage and variable voltage settings, giving you plenty of control over your vaping experience and a lot of room for adjustment.

But is it a good choice for vapers who are in the market for a good, high-quality box mod?

Here’s what we found out over the course of our research. P.S. if you’re looking for a list of different box mods, see our top level navigation – we’ve created a list of top quality box mods that are available from the UK.

Pros and Cons

Here are the basic pros and cons that we discovered as we researched this device.

  • It’s sturdy and well-made
  • It comes packed with all of the features that you would expect a modern box mod to offer
  • It has variable wattage and voltage
  • It has a flip screen for left-handed users
  • It’s compact and easy to hold
  • The finish is attractive and well-done

  • Since the battery is built into the unit, it cannot be replaced – which isn’t much of a downside, because it offers more simplicity – but it could make a difference for sub ohm vapers.
  • The kit doesn’t come with a mains charging cable adapter, so you’ll have to buy one or use one that you already have if you don’t have access to a USB port.

What’s in the starter kit?

The Innokin Cool Fire 4 Box Mod Starter Kit comes with the Cool Fire 40W Battery Mod, a Micro USB charger lead, an eG0/510 thread adapter, a user manual, and a scratch authenticity code.

This mod specifically comes with a 510/eGo adapter, so that you can use standard eGo tanks with it if you don’t have any that are outfitted with 510 threads. This was definitely a cool addition to the kit, and I’m glad that they included it.

With the 2000 mAh battery, you can vape all day with a sub ohm tank without running out of power – which is definitely nice. If you’re using a standard tank, then you can expect to get even more vaping done between charges – up to two or three days’ worth, at least.

The variable wattage and variable voltage settings will give you quite a bit of control over the quality and flavor of your vape – which is definitely one of the best things about box mods like this. After using a box mod with variable voltage and wattage settings, you’ll likely hate returning to devices that don’t give you any power or control over the current.

Attention! Strangely enough, the user manual that comes with this product specifies that you can use a .2 ohm coil with the CoolFire 4, while the other specs say that you can only use a .3.

This was a bit confusing, but we actually stuck a .2 ohm tank onto it, just to try it out – and it seemed to work fine. So as far as we can tell, .2 ohms is actually the lowest resistance that you can vape with the Innokin CoolFire 4.

The CoolFire 4 is so different from the CoolFire 2 that it’s almost a completely different device. The previous version didn’t have nearly as many features. It also had a strange ‘hand grenade’ type look to it, and had a much more limited variable wattage range.
This device is compatible with 510 and eGo threading.

What we think of this kit

The CoolFire 4 is definitely an improvement over previous CoolFire devices. It’s priced affordably, and is also superior to many of its competitors.

If you’re new to box mods or are just coming into this category from using regular vape pens, then you’ll have no trouble getting it figured out. It’s really a simple-to-use device, and the user manual that comes with it is more than sufficient for getting you up-to-speed.

As far as the quality of the vape is concerned, the Innokin CoolFire 4 definitely doesn’t disappoint. Whether you’re vaping sub ohm or regular, you’re going to be pretty impressed with this mod. Of course, the flavor and the actual amount of vapour will depend pretty heavily on your tank – but with the right tank and the right E-liquid, this mod will definitely get the job done.

Information! If you’re looking for a fantastic, well-built, and reliable mod that’ll do what’s required to get you the best vape possible, then you should definitely think about looking into the Innokin CoolFire 4.

Appearance and Feel

The package that the device comes in is fairly simple and compact. It wasn’t necessarily ‘fancy’, bit it was functional and got the job done. One nice thing about it was that the packaging had all of the specs printed on the back – which would be very handy if you were purchasing this kit in a store.

The mod itself seems like a brilliantly designed piece of vaping gear. It’s made from stainless steel, and has a grainy/matte-like finish on it – so it’s pretty cool and looks really nice.

This might be the first box mod that we’ve ever seen that comes with a simple, legitimate on/off hard switch. Pretty simple, we know – but it could also be extremely helpful, so kudos to Innokin for including it.

The micro USB charge port on this device is actually located on the front – which is surprisingly convenient. It makes charge-through vaping easy, and does a good job of keeping the lead out of your way. This feature also allows you to stand the unit up while you’re charging – which is surprisingly helpful!

We were quite surprised to see a series of air holes along the side of the device – which seem to be intended as a way to dissipate the heat. This made us feel a bit better about the device, as heat is never something that you really want to have to deal with when it comes to E-cigs.

As you would expect, this product comes equipped with the usual safety features. It has overload protection, short circuit protection, etc… so you won’t need to worry quite as much about safety problems as you might if you were using a lower-tech device.

The screen-flip feature is definitely nice! If you’re left-handed, you’ll have a new appreciation for this box mod after seeing how easy it is to flip the screen around.

The screen itself is very small – but it’s brightly lit and easy to read, so you shouldn’t have any visual problems with it.

The controls are pretty easy to use. If you’re not interested in something complicated, then you probably won’t have a problem with the Innokin CoolFire 4.

The device feels pretty good in your hand. It’s comfortable, snug in your palm, and easy to get a good grip on.

The solid, stainless steel build seems very sturdy. This mod will definitely last a long time – even when subjected to the rigors of daily use.

It might be nice if this unit came with a replaceable battery instead of one that’s built right into it – simply so that you wouldn’t run the risk of running out of power if you were out and about while sub ohm vaping. But this is hardly a fair criticism, as one of the upsides to this type of a device is the fact that it eliminates the need to deal with extra batteries or switching them out – so this upside definitely offsets any negatives in this regard, as far as I’m concerned.

Another possible drawback is the fact that the charging cable didn’t come with a mains adapter – which would have been nice. Though, once again, for the price of the kit, it makes sense that they had to cut something out to keep the cost low – so I have a hard time really calling this a legitimate drawback.

This mod really does tick all the boxes.I had an Aspire esp 30 which lasted 2 years till I dropped it, I thought that was a decent mod, but this one exceeds it, more power better build, I like it also because I can switch from my nautilus to my sub ohm tank and just lower or raise wattage as needed. I also have a kanger k box which is good but wattage is limited to 7 settings which is not always ideal using nautilus or mini triton which vape best around 14 – 16 watts.
