Pre-filled refill cartridges or E-liquid?

One great thing about E-cigs is that you can simply refill them once you’ve used up the E-liquid – which is part of what makes them so user-friendly and inexpensive.Of course, different E-cigs require different things when it comes to filling them up – and therein lie a few choices. Some varieties utilize pre-filled refill cartridges, while others simply require you to buy E-liquid – which is then poured directly into the clearomizer/tank.

But which is better? Which one should you choose?

Here’s a little bit of information that might help you to make the best choice for your situation.

Does your level of experience matter?

First of all, it’s important to understand that your level of vaping experience probably has little to do with which one of these would work better for you.

It is probably true that, in the most basic sense, buying refill cartridges is perhaps a little bit easier than refilling with actual E-liquid – though the difference between these two in terms of complexity is so minimal that there really isn’t much of a distinction.

 Price

One of the biggest differences between these two options is the price. Not surprisingly, it tends to be a bit more expensive in the long run to buy refill cartomizers than it is to buy straight E-liquid – so you’re probably looking at lower long-term costs if you buy an E-cig that you can refill directly.

You’ll also need to replace your clearomizers (these are used on Egos and other similar styles) as well, even if you do use E-liquid to refill your electronic cigarette – though this doesn’t need to be done nearly as often, and doesn’t really add up to much in terms of cost when all is said and done.

In the end, you’re definitely looking at money saved if you take the E-liquid route – but price isn’t the only factor to consider either.

 Initial purchase

It might be more expensive in the beginning to buy E-liquid, mostly because you’re going to need to buy an entire bottle instead of 3 or 5 cartridges. This actually might not end up being any more expensive – it all depends on the brand. In some cases, however, you will find that, while a bottle of E-liquid will last longer, it also costs more in the beginning.

 Difficulty

Refilling with e-liquid is easy, and once you get used to it, you’ll be able to do it without even thinking about it. However, with that being said, there is literally no learning curve involved with cartridges. You simply buy them and screw them on – and then you’re ready to vape. Refilling with E-liquid might be simple, but it’s still a little bit more difficult than replacing pre-filled cartridges.

The majority of people end up using E-liquid

In the end, most people eventually end up using E-liquid refill their E-cigs directly. Cig-a-likes are actually falling in popularity, while Egos are becoming more and more preferred. You really can’t go wrong in choosing to buy an Ego that you re-fill yourself, as you will mostly likely end up at that point sometime in the future anyway.

If you go ahead and buy one now, you’ll save yourself extra money and find yourself capable of jumping right into what more experienced vapers actually prefer.

Of course, if the thought of keeping bottles of E-liquid on hand makes you nervous, you can always start with a cartridge-compatible E-cig and then upgrade if you find that you like the vaping experience. You might also be able to buy E-cigs that come with refillable cartridges. This will give you the option to fill your own, though you can also retain the option of buying pre-filled cartridges if refilling ends up not being your thing.

E-cigs are extremely easy to use

Contrary to popular belief, E-cigs are incredibly easy to operate and maintain. You’ll soon find that any nervousness (while understandable) is quite unfounded once you get a bit of experience under your belt.

There are actually over 400 different brands of electronic cigarettes on the market today, but the vast majority of them operate basically the same. To avoid confusion, you may want to stay away from variable-voltage devices at first, as these can be a bit tricky to get used to – but when it comes to refilling them, they’re about the same as any other Ego or mod.
