SMOK VCT A1 Sub Ohm Tank Review

This sub ohm tank, produced by SMOK and sold by Jac Vapour, is getting quite a bit of attention online – and for good reason. We had already been seeing and hearing about it for some time before getting to write this review – so naturally, we were super-excited to get started.

Jac Vapour is no stranger to the E-cig market, and they’ve already made a name for themselves in the sub-ohm movement. They offer a ton of different products, ranging from starter kits and accessories to E-liquids and tanks.

We’ve always been impressed by their products and service – so let’s take a look at the VCT. SMOK has a history of delivering top-notch vaping gear, so let’s see if this tank is any different.

It’s affordable, and also comes with the quality customer service that you’ve come to expect from Jac Vapour – which is, without a doubt, one of our favorite E-cig companies!

Pros and Cons

Here are the basic pros and cons that we discovered while researching the SMOK VCT A1 Sub Ohm Tank.

  • It’s priced affordably
  • It’s well made
  • It works exceptionally well
  • It produces amazing clouds and does an awesome job with flavor
  • It’s easy to use and isn’t super-difficult to figure out

  • It might be nice if the tank could be filled up completely instead of just half-way – but honestly, this isn’t much of a downside, as the capacity is already awesome.
  • Before using sub-ohm tanks, you need to be sure that you understand the safety risks – mostly involving voltage and resistance. This isn’t really a downside of the tank either – but it’s something to pay attention to before trying any sub ohm device.

What’s in the starter kit?

Information! The SMOK VCT A1 Sub Ohm tank comes with the tank itself, a spare Pyrex glass tube, a spare coil, a set of O-ring seals that fit quite nicely on the tank, and an instruction manual.

The fact that the tank came with a spare Pyrex tube was pretty nice – but we were very pleasantly surprised by the extra O-rings. Sometimes, the O-rings that come with tanks in the beginning go bad – allowing the E-liquid to ‘leak out’.

Getting extra O-rings ensures that you won’t have leaking problems later on – which is pretty awesome.

The instruction manual was actually pretty in-depth – which was nice. SMOK seems to be doing better and better on their instruction booklets – and this one was probably the nicest that we’ve seen from them.

The drip tip is pretty wide – which is a great feature for a sub-ohm tank. The wider mouthpiece will help to accommodate the larger clouds of vapor produced by the sub-ohm coil.

The tank on this coil will hold about 3.5ml of E-liquid – which is awesome! That’s a lot of E-liquid, which is perfect for a sub ohm tank, as they tend to burn through the liquid much faster than traditional models.

The coils that SMOK makes for the VCT are certainly ‘bigger’ than traditional coils. The flow holes, where E-liquid soaks into the wick, are nice and large to accommodate more liquid, and the cotton wicks seem to be very well-crafted.

Another interesting feature that’s built into this coil is an E-liquid-limitation feature. You can actually screw down the top of the coil to cover some of the flow-holes – thus decreasing the amount of E-liquid that you’re actually letting into the device.

This is a pretty interesting design that we’ve seen a few times before – but it’s always been a bit sketchy, to be honest. SMOK, however, seems to have done an awesome job of updating the design, and it seems to work rather well with this device. It’s an awesome solution to the problem of a runnier PG E-liquid, as sub-ohm tanks can tend to have a hard time dealing with their thinner consistency.

  • Made with stainless steel and Pyrex glass
  • 22mm diameter
  • Features 4 different coil head designs
  • Comes supplied with a .5 Ohm coil
  • Also comes with a spare coil and a spare Pyrex tube
  • 510 thread connector
This tank comes equipped with standard 510 sized threads, making it compatible with many of the newer box mods and vaporizers on the market.

What did we think of this Tank?

This tank… is… awesome.

The flavor is awesome, the vapor production is extraordinary – and even with a 1.2Ohm coil in it, this bad boy produces some of the biggest clouds that we have ever seen in a sub-ohm tank.

The E-liquid also stays nice and smooth throughout the vape – which is amazing.

In the end, we were very, VERY impressed with this tank. It’s affordably priced. It performs extremely well. It does what it was designed to do, and you probably won’t find a better way to spend your money if you’re in the market for a sub-ohm tank.

Customer Reviews

Customer Reviews for the SMOK VCT A1 Tank

Appearance and Feel

The packaging on this product was honestly pretty attractive. The presentation was nice – but then again, SMOK usually hits the nail on the head with this category – and they didn’t disappoint with the packaging on the VCT.

Our first impression of this tank was that it was a beast. It was heavy-duty, and made predominantly from Pyrex glass and stainless steel. We definitely felt that this tank would last a long time – so kudos to SMOK for creating something so sturdy!

  • Airflow

The airflow controller on this tank was pretty unique. It’s not so unlike the airflow controllers on other sub-ohm tanks that we’ve reviewed, except that it seems to be machined perfectly to create just the right amount of friction.

It’s hard enough to turn to keep your settings the same, without being a pain to adjust by hand. A small metal ‘stop’ keeps you from turning it too far – which is also a nice feature.

  • Material

The stainless steel and Pyrex construction of this tank was certainly impressive. You really can’t ask for better materials than this when it comes to a sub-ohm tank (or any tank, for that matter). At the end of the day, we were more than impressed with the product in this respect.

  • Ease of Use

The VCT comes apart pretty easily. I was impressed with how simple the construction was. Of course, you should probably know a little about vaping and electric current before you attempt to sub-ohm vape – but for vapers who are ready to try it, this tank seems to be easy to fill and maintain.

The biggest highlight to this tank is probably the fact that it does an outstanding job!

The second biggest highlight is probably the construction of the device itself. It’s truly well-made, is super-easy to take apart, and is very simple to maintain. SMOK has really outdone themselves with the VCT – that’s for sure!

It seems like a bit of a waste to have such a huge tank when it will only ever be able to be filled up halfway. The tank is legitimately HUGE, but you can only fill it up halfway because of how the coil connects to the rest of it.

This isn’t really a big deal, because even as-is, the capacity is awesome. It would just be cool to fill the whole thing up if such a thing were possible.
