Vaping When Your Friends Don’t
Vaping is the latest craze that is sweeping the world. It’s slightly different to other crazes though. It’s not based around some kind of fad. Vaping is a far healthier alternative to smoking and that is where the roots of the craze are steeped. It can be a divisive issue though, some people still don’t like it. It’s understandable, when you don’t truly understand something, it’s difficult to accept. Opinions can be changed though. Here are three simple ways to go about changing them.
Don’t Be Inconsiderate
You might know that it is harmless, you might know that there is no danger if someone else accidentally inhales the vapour but that doesn’t mean you should be blowing it other people’s faces, it’s just plain rude no matter what it is.
Be considerate with your vaping, if you’re in a friend’s house ask them if they mind you using it indoors. It doesn’t matter that it won’t do any harm, it’s their house and you should respect that.
If they don’t want you to vape around their children that is a reasonable request too. You could be cool Uncle Joe to those kids and if the parents don’t want them to vape then you should respect those wishes and not influence them in a way that goes against their parents.
Finally if you’re out and eating, make sure people are okay with you vaping. It doesn’t take much to have a little bit of consideration and make sure that you don’t alienate your friends.
Don’t Be Afraid To Educate
All of that before doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t attempt to help your friends learn about vaping though. Vaping is far safer than smoking, the vapour you breathe out is entirely harmless. While it is true that not all of the nicotine is used up when it is breathed in, the amount that is breathed out is so small that it can’t even enter the body.
It’s not just that either though, you should always remember to inform your friends that vaping is an alternative to smoking. You started it because you wanted to quit cigarettes. Remind them that what you’re doing isn’t harmful to them and it is many magnitudes less harmful to you as well. If they want to be supportive friends who have your best interests at heart then they should be supportive of your efforts to quit.
You don’t need to preach the positives of vaping at every opportunity, but at the same time when someone mentions a negative that you know isn’t true you shouldn’t ignore it. Vaping instead of smoking is adding years to your life and making sure you a healthy enough to enjoy those years too. Don’t be ashamed of that.
Don’t Worry About Negative Opinions
As long as you are being a considerate vaper, then you should ignore any negative opinions about you vaping. If you are blowing your vapour into people’s faces and offering their children a go on your vaper then you deserve all of the negativity coming your way. That isn’t an issue with vaping, that’s an issue with your lack of common decency. However, if you are being considerate and people are giving you negativity then the problem isn’t you.
As mentioned before vaping is a healthier alternative to smoking. It still gives you the nicotine hit you have been craving, but it takes away the majority of the other harmful chemicals in a cigarette. The reason that vaping helps you to stop smoking better than a large number of other solutions is because it still gives you the ability to indulge the habit you have formed from smoking. The inhalation. Once you are used to that you can even cut out the nicotine completely far more easily than without vaping. With a lot of people it is the habit of smoking more so than the nicotine that they crave. Once they make the switch to just different flavours of water vapour then they are completely in the clear.
Taking all of that into account, and as mentioned as long as you are being considerate, why would anyone have a problem with you attempting to improve your health? If their negativity is borne purely from them just not liking that you vape, then they care more about their preconceived notions than they do about your health. Don’t rise to it and keep on taking better care of yourself.
