Vype eBox Kit Review
The Vype eBox is a personalized vaping kit that offers more control over the flow, power, and flavour of your vape than any product released by Vype yet.
This company has recently come to our attention because they offer some pretty cool products and a few different E-liquid flavour choices.
They’re not a ‘powerhouse supplier’ in the sense that they carry a bit of a limited selection – but really, with all things considered, we liked what we found.
But in this review, we’re going to talk more specifically about one product offered on the company’s website – the Vype eBox Kit.
Pros and Cons
Here are the basic pros and cons that we discovered as we researched the Vype eBox…
- The device seems well made
- The rubberized grip is comfortable and ergonomic
- Most of the device is made of metal and glass, which is really nice
- It vapes well and gives you variable wattage settings
- It comes with a money back satisfaction guarantee
- The 2.0ml tank capacity is a bit on the small side
- It would have been nice to see a sub ohm option, as the battery is a pretty good size – but then again, this device simply wasn’t designed to be a sub ohm mod, so not having it as an option is understandable.
- The firing button is placed a bit awkwardly – though really, again, this isn’t a big deal at all. It’s certainly not a deal breaker.
What’s in the starter kit?
The Vype eBox starter kit comes with the eBox itself, a micro USB charger, and a 10ml bottle of Dark Cherry E-liquid.
While this isn’t a sub-ohm kit, it certainly comes with all of the modern features that you would expect to see in a mid-range vaping mod. Plus, it comes with everything that you need to get started right in the box.
The battery is a 2000 mAh battery, which is actually pretty big. With that being said, the wattage on the device is relatively low (4 to 12 watts), and the coil is a 2.1 ohm coil. With all of this taken into account, the battery has a pretty long lifespan.
When you take the tank apart, you’ll reveal the atomizer inside. The base of the tank is quite heavy, actually, and the rest of the tank follows suit. This indicates that it’s well made, which is a good thing. The tank breaks apart pretty thoroughly. The company says to change the atomizer once every two weeks – but honestly, you can probably get away with changing it a bit less often than that.
With that being said, it’s not a bad idea at all to stock up on them (atomizers) ahead of time – just to make sure that you have what you need when you need it.
Inside, this is dual coil system with 11 wicks – so you can be sure that it’s going to soak up quite a bit of liquid and flavour.
The 2.0 ml tank capacity is a bit of a disappointment, as it’s kind of small – but really, since it’s not a sub-ohm device, it’s not a huge downside.
- Comes with 1 eBox device
- Features a glass tank
- Equipped with a steel atomizer
- Ships with 1 10ml bottle of Dark Cherry 6mg/ml nicotine E-liquid
- Includes a USB charging cable
- Comes with a money back satisfaction guarantee
- Ergonomic design makes it comfortable to use
- Anti-glare OLED screen makes it easy to see, even in the daytime
- Sturdy top-fill tank makes re-filling a breeze
- Variable wattage range: 4w to 12w
- 2000 mAh battery
- 1 ohm coil
- 2ml tank capacity
What did we think of this kit?
First of all, the OLED screen was beautiful. We were afraid that it was going to be a bit small – but were very surprised by how readable and visible it was.
As far as a vape test was concerned, we started with the device set to 4 watts. There was virtually no flavour or vapour on this setting, so we weren’t a big fan of it set this low. This might be good for new vapers who don’t want too much vapour, but we certainly wanted a more ‘powerful’ experience.
So next, we cranked it up to 12 watts to see what it could do… and it certainly didn’t disappoint this time. It’s obviously not a sub ohm tank, and while the flavour was amazing, we noticed that the clouds weren’t necessarily what you would call ‘massive’.
Information! But with that being said, you certainly need to vape on it for a few minutes to really get the vapour going strong. Even at full force, this mod wasn’t cranking out huge vapour clouds – but it is a quality box mod, and it does deliver some pretty good clouds once you get it going.
Unless you’re really new to vaping, you probably won’t want to set it any lower than 12 watts. With that being said, this would make an awesome tank for someone just transitioning to a ‘box mod’ style device, because it’s affordable and extremely well made.
In the future, it would be super cool to see a sub-ohm version of this device – but as it is, we really, really liked it – so two thumbs up to Vype for delivering a box mod that meets pretty much all of our expectations!
Appearance and Feel
The packaging was really nice. It was a varnished box with a slide-off outer case. The box folds out to reveal a nice instruction manual, as well as the device itself. The instructions were nicely detailed. They contain all of the information that’s important to know right from the beginning, though toward the back they also contain some more technical data.
The device itself has a rubberized coating on it. It has a stainless steel tank with a section that’s also glass, and a stainless steel drip tip. All in all, it looks really, really nice. The firing button is on the side of the device, which is alright, though maybe not the most convenient location. The drip tip actually screws in on this mod, which is pretty cool.
Dissembling the mod is pretty easy. You just unscrew the tank and take it out of the frame.
The steel tank has a variable airflow setting on it that allows it to be set from ‘all the way closed’ to ‘all the way open’, to anywhere in-between. This broad range allows you to set it pretty much wherever you want it.
Most of this device is made of steel, rubber, and glass. All in all, it seemed sturdy and well-made. We were quite pleased with how it felt and looked, and have no doubt that it’ll last a long time if handled relatively carefully.
- Ease of Use
The eBox is truly pretty easy to use. Filling it up is a simple, straightforward process, and changing the settings is also pretty simple. If you’re not familiar with these types of mods, then you may want to make sure to go through the instructions first. Understanding how to operate the device from beginning to end will doubtlessly give you a leg up in setting it up.
Note: After you fill up the tank, let it sit for about 10 minutes before you use it, as this will allow time for the wicks to soak up some E-liquid. Trying to use it too soon after filling might result in a dry hit.
The biggest highlight to this product is the intuitive and ergonomic design. In a functional sense, we loved how it looked and felt.
The main drawback, for us, was that it wasn’t a sub-ohm device. It would, in the future, be nice to see a version of this with sub-ohm capabilities though – because we really loved how the eBox looked and felt.
